Winter is a wonderful time. White fluffy snow covers the ground, but it is also a wonderful material from which you can create something original. One of these snowy winters, a snow woman appeared in front of our house. Earlier, I wrote about a small castle made of snow from a Christmas tree, you can read about it here.
I apologize again for providing few photos this time. The war, unfortunately, took too many things dear to me. So I will have to tell you in words how it was.
How My Daughter and I Created a Snow Woman?
My daughter and I started making the snow woman like a snowman from regular snow globes, which should be large. Gradually, as I worked, I began to give it outlines similar to a snow woman. My daughter helped me with pleasure, and also brought white snow in her small plastic shovel. To make sure the snow woman’s hands were firmly in place, I found several dry branches as thick as a finger and stuck them into the base. After that, I covered these branches with snow. I did similar manipulations with the head. I found a short but rather thick short branch, inserted it into the body and later put the snow globe on this branch. After that, I formed the neck. It was convenient for me to make the outlines of the face, dress and other decorative elements using an iron spatula (we were renovating our house and had such tools at hand) and a small piece of dry branch. This is what we got.
I painted the snow woman
As you can see, snow products can look interesting, but if you paint them, it will be simply magical. In the previous article, I already described the painting process. I will briefly mention this method here, as it is a little different. To paint the dress, I used a plastic bottle, in the lid of which I made many holes. I diluted food coloring with water and simply poured this solution over the snow dress. This is a very quick method that colors the snow well and deeply, but not very neat. To paint the hair, I used a regular sprayer that is used to spray plants. The area is small, the hand does not get tired so much, it turns out neater. Well, and small lines such as eyes, lips, patterns on the dress I applied with a thick paint brush, simply diluted the paint in water and painted the necessary lines. This is what I got.
Simple decorative elements
I also decided to add some decorative elements. I made a bow from colored cardboard, like the Christmas tree decorations. First, I cut out decorations from colored cardboard, then took a bamboo skewer and glued it to the decoration with a glue gun. Such decorations hold firmly, since the bamboo skewer is sharp and thin, it penetrates deep into the snow craft without destroying it.
How long can a snow woman lasted?
And finally, how long will it last? Unfortunately, no one can say. Make snow crafts based on your weather conditions. In frosty weather, I sprayed snow woman with water from a spray bottle. This helped to get a thin ice crust, which made my snow woman stronger. This snow woman lasted about 20 days. It was nice to see people taking pictures with her. This means that my daughter and I managed to make something really interesting.
