Good day to all. This post will be special, as it is the last one where I will describe the crafts that remained in Ukraine. And this article will be dedicated to the papier mache lion. The following posts will contain more photos and information, as I now live in the UK, and there is a peaceful sky above my head and I am not afraid to lose everything that is dear to me at any moment.
The process of making the papier mache lion was the same as I made the griffin earlier. You can read about it here. But I will describe it briefly. As a base, there were many plastic bottles. It is a cheap material with which you can create a large volume. I fastened the bottles with adhesive tape and pasted newspapers on top. Then I applied a mixture of water and PVA glue (1:1), to which small pieces of toilet paper were added. This mixture should be thick. But at the same time, it seemed to me that this mixture was not plastic enough, so I formed small details with the help of starting and finishing putty. After complete drying, I covered the sculpture with varnish.
The article is called “Papier Mache Lion”, which is not quite right. Most of it is indeed made of papier mache. I used putty for the top layer. I needed a cheap material, a base. Later I created a silicone mold based on this lion. I had a lot of detailed photos, but unfortunately the lion, the silicone mold, and the photos are lost forever. Below you can see some photos that I miraculously managed to save.
